Enemy Bestiary

Contract: exactly 56 ordinary (EN-O), 24 elite (EN-E), 12 regional sub-boss (EN-S), and 8 chapter boss (EN-B) identities. Shared combat terms and chapter allocations resolve through CAMPAIGN_AND_CHAPTERS.md.

Bestiary Rules

  • Each identity owns a target rule, visible telegraph, counter window, item drop, allowed variant axis, forbidden variant axis, and production signature.
  • A variant may change the named axis only. It may not remove counterplay, disguise tier, shorten the listed readable tell, or add blanket immunity.
  • Elite stability is 100, sub-boss stability is 160, and boss stability is phase-specific. Ordinary enemies have no stability unless their row states a Break interaction.
  • Telegraph shapes supplement color: wedge means movement, ring means area, bracket means link/redirect, and broken line means Hush or clause suppression.

Not allowed: hidden gauge or target after notch 6. Walking crucible with public gauge, molten slit widens; eight percussive ticks and full-pressure roar with reduced-flash option.
EN-S003 Sub-boss, Debt Kiln Assigns three visible debt tokens to resources spent. At 5 seconds, each token either deals 35 or is paid by spending a different resource type; every successful cross-payment removes 35 stability. Token lines connect debtor to acceptable alternate icons for 2 seconds. Build varied party, pace spending, or Break one token with intervention. Drops IT-095; optional abandoned ledger kiln. Allowed: four smaller tokens in Second Weave. Not allowed: demand unavailable resource. Circular kiln with receipt ribbons, tokens physically orbit targets; paper crackle, furnace inhale, clear paid chime.
EN-B003 Boss, Furnace Regent Phase 1 levies Heat on repeated resource types. Phase 2 rotates furnace vents across bands; using the opposite resource class opens a vent and removes stability. Not allowed: remove more than one or react without cooldown. Fan-tailed forest automaton, red leaf semaphore; broom rush and crisp leaf clap.

Shears-limbed topiary clerk, clause visibly clipped not erased; three snips and restoration rustle.
EN-E011 Elite, Clause Antler Grows one antler branch per allied buff clause; at four, charges the most-buffed unit for 35 per branch. Dispelling any buff removes matching branch and 15 stability. Not allowed: change damage values or hide alternation. Stilted annotation frame with eraser feet, black/white pattern flip; chalk squeal then clean correction knock.
EN-S004 Sub-boss, Unwritten Bailiff Removes one UI label from its own next action, chosen from target, band, or secondary clause; players can restore it by using research, varied tags, or intervention respectively. Each restoration removes 45 stability. Missing field is an explicit blank box, never absent UI; 3-second preparation. Use matching information tool, then counter revealed action. Drops IT-135; optional sealed annex. Allowed: blanks two fields with longer tell in Second Weave. Not allowed: blank timing or all fields. Featureless wooden docket with floating blank cards; restored labels physically attach, hollow paper knock and satisfying type-block return.
EN-B004 Boss, Redaction Stag Phase 1 erases the secondary clause of the most repeated active. Phase 2 prunes the most-used band, leaving two routes. Phase 3 marks a three-action “official version”; deliberately inserting a low-value different action exposes the contradiction and removes 50 stability. Usage counts remain public; pruning grows over 2 seconds; official sequence is displayed as three leaf cards. Bait with safe repetition, rotate bands, then contradict sequence. Drops IT-136; CH-04 finale. Second Weave uses preserved/pruned archive choice. Never erase base actions, hide counts, or require lore-only answer. Not allowed: identical patterns or random last-frame selection. Translucent flower body, foam outlines with patterned bases; bubble triplet and low true-strike thump.

Wing underside and large pause icons announce mode for 1.2 seconds. Spread timers or use the beneficial mode deliberately. Drops IT-187; night-tide route. Allowed: alternation begins dark. Not allowed: random mode or state removal. Flat ray with clockwork moon disc, broad glide shadow; alternating open/closed chimes and water rush.
EN-E013 Elite, Counterfeit Captain Spawns a false copy with inverse target rule: true attacks lowest Guard, false feints highest Guard. Hitting false grants captain 20 stability; Mark transfers to true. True captain's order card has embossed border; copy is striped and slightly delayed 0.2 seconds. Mark, read target mismatch, or use area damage. Drops IT-172; contraband pier. Allowed: swap true/copy once at 50% vitality with 2-second tell. Not allowed: remove embossed/striped distinction.
