Kill entire process tree instead of just the direct child to prevent
orphans when Gemini CLI ignores SIGTERM. Implements killProcessTree that
collects all PIDs synchronously, signals children first, then waits for
termination with auto-escalation to SIGKILL after 2 seconds. Also removes
Node.js signal option from spawn since built-in abort handling doesn't
handle grandchildren.
- AcpStdioTransport: Fix stdout JSON validation to filter non-object JSON (numbers, strings, booleans) that could break protocol
- AcpStdioTransport: Add request timeout with 2-minute default, properly cleared on settle, using unref() for graceful shutdown
- AcpStdioTransport: Add stderr error parsing for rate limit (429), model not found (404), auth errors, quota exceeded
- AcpSdkBackend: Add initialization retry mechanism using withRetry() for initialize and session/new (3 attempts, 1-5s backoff)
- AcpSdkBackend: Add waitForResponseComplete() for safe session swaps and preventing race conditions
- AcpSdkBackend: Add onStderrError() handler and processingMessage getter for error reporting
- AcpSdkBackend: Use Infinity timeout for session/prompt to support long-running tasks
- Replace outdated WEBAPP_URL with HAPI_PUBLIC_URL in server and web READMEs
- Add CLI version verification steps in prerequisites section
- Enhance Cloudflare Tunnel documentation with quick and named tunnel examples
- Add --protocol http2 recommendation for tunnel stability
- Include pm2 alternative for runner process management
- Add Telegram Mini App troubleshooting notes and verification steps
The button was blocking UI elements at the bottom-right corner. This CSS
override moves it to the middle-right position while keeping the same
horizontal placement, providing better UI visibility and interaction.
Add support for users to select voice language preference, which is passed through to ElevenLabs agents via platform settings overrides. Includes new language mapping utilities, UI controls in settings page, and updated voice session initialization.
- Add resetRealtimeSessionState() function to reset session state
- Store and stop media stream from permission request to prevent resource leak
- Call reset function when voice session disconnects
This fixes an issue where npx @twsxtd/hapi fails because npm doesn't create
bin symlinks for packages with optionalDependencies. The postinstall script
ensures bin/hapi.cjs has executable permission.
Previously, useTerminalSocket used a relative path `/terminal` for Socket.IO,
which would connect to the frontend host instead of the actual HAPI server.
Now it uses the baseUrl from context to connect to the correct server, enabling
scenarios like hosting the frontend on GitHub Pages while the server runs elsewhere.
When relay mode is enabled, skip serving frontend assets through the relay tunnel to reduce bandwidth pressure. Instead, show a helpful page on root directing users to the official frontend at app.hapi.run.
Changes:
- server/src/web/server.ts: Add relayMode and officialWebUrl options, skip static serving in relay mode, show helpful page on root
- server/src/index.ts: Pass relayMode and officialWebUrl to startWebServer
Update documentation across README, installation, and quick-start guides
to highlight the new relay-based access method with WireGuard + TLS
end-to-end encryption. Changes include:
- Recommend `hapi server --relay` as the default startup command
- Explain URL and QR code generation in terminal for instant access
- Note end-to-end encryption for security assurance
- Reorganize self-hosted tunnel options (Cloudflare, Tailscale, IP)
- Update website installation steps and add E2EE badge
Add tlsGate module to validate tunnel TLS certificates before announcing public access. This ensures the tunnel has a valid, trusted certificate before displaying the public URL to users. The validation checks certificate validity period, hostname matching (including wildcard support), and handles both DNS names and IP addresses.
Refactor tunnel access announcement to wait for TLS readiness asynchronously, preventing premature display of access links.
Integrates tunwg (WireGuard tunnel) to enable optional public access
to the hapi server. Tunnel is disabled by default and enabled via
--relay flag or HAPI_TUNNEL=true environment variable.
Users can now run 'hapi server --relay' and get a direct link like:
https://app.hapi.run/?server=https://xxx.relay.hapi.run&token=xxx
CODEX_SESSION_SCANNER was incorrectly auto-resuming old sessions because
session files persist after Codex exits. Fixed by:
1. Only matching sessions created AFTER hapi startup (reject if
sessionTimestamp < referenceTimestampMs)
2. Snapshot resumeSessionId at startup so scanner callbacks don't
affect codexLocal's launch parameters
3. Updated session timestamp test to verify boundary conditions
Codex elicitation requests from MCP use the 'message' field (from
ElicitRequest schema), not 'command' or 'cwd'. Update the permission
handler to extract and pass this field, and display it as the card
subtitle with fallback to command.
Adds onRequest and onComplete callbacks to CodexPermissionHandler to track
permission request/response lifecycle. Includes helper functions to normalize
command and cwd inputs, and displays permission requests in the web UI.
Codex API sends 'shell_command' as the tool name for bash commands, but
the web app didn't recognize it, falling back to a generic wrench icon.
This adds proper presentation with a terminal icon, matching Claude's
Bash tool display.
Parse the "Exit code: X\nWall time: Y\nOutput:\n..." format from bash tool
results and display metadata (exit code and wall time) separately from the
output content as a code block.
- Updated useLongPress.ts to pass click coordinates to onLongPress callback
- Modified SessionList.tsx to use menuAnchorPoint state instead of menuAnchorRef
- Updated SessionActionMenu.tsx to position menu based on anchorPoint coordinates
- Enhanced SessionHeader.tsx to calculate anchorPoint from button position and added stopPropagation to fix toggle issue
The menu now appears at the exact touch/click position instead of being centered or aligned to the button edge.
- Improved preview output columns: Removed id and tag columns, added Title (from metadata.summary.text), First Message (first user message), and human-readable Updated date
- Reordered columns for clarity: Updated, Msgs (fixed width), Title, First Message, Path
- Added --message=PATTERN filter option for fuzzy matching on first user message (case-insensitive)
- Fixed deletion count to use actual session count instead of result.changes (which included CASCADE deleted messages)
- Added helper functions: formatDate(), truncate(), extractUserText()
Adds GitHub Actions workflow to auto-respond to new issues using OpenAI's Codex action.
Features:
- Triggers on newly opened issues
- Skips issues with duplicate/spam/bot-skip labels or existing bot responses
- Includes comprehensive prompt for context-aware responses
- Enhanced security constraints and response format guidelines
- Checks for existing HAPI Bot responses before processing
Files:
- .github/workflows/issue-auto-response.yml - GitHub Actions workflow
- .github/prompts/issue-auto-response.md - Codex prompt with project context and guidelines
Add exponential backoff retry mechanism to handle ECONNREFUSED errors when the
server isn't ready yet during daemon startup. This includes:
- New errorUtils module with error classification helpers
- withRetry function in time.ts supporting configurable exponential backoff
- Machine registration retry with sensible defaults (60 attempts, 1-30s delays)
- Error refactoring to consolidate extractErrorInfo utility
close#35
The IntersectionObserver's useEffect had handleLoadMore in its dependency
array, but handleLoadMore depended on isLoadingMoreMessages. When loading
completed, isLoadingMoreMessages changed, causing handleLoadMore to be
recreated and the observer to rebuild, immediately firing again and
triggering continuous load requests.
Fixed by storing handleLoadMore in a ref and removing it from the
IntersectionObserver's dependency array, allowing it to rebuild only when
hasMoreMessages or isLoadingMessages change.
Implement a visibility-aware notification system that delivers toast messages via SSE to visible browser tabs instead of sending push notifications, reducing unnecessary push requests. Includes VisibilityTracker for monitoring connection visibility, toast UI components, and enhanced SSEManager with toast delivery capability.
Introduces visibility tracking for pending messages to distinguish between
total pending messages and those that are actually visible to the user. This
allows the overflow warning to trigger only when visible messages are dropped,
not just any messages. Includes caching of visibility checks for pending
messages to improve performance.
Introduces a new message-window-store module to manage message state with
automatic windowing of visible and pending messages. This replaces manual
React Query cache operations with a centralized, observable state system.
close#39
Key changes:
- New MessageWindowState tracks visible/pending messages with size limits
- Automatic trimming of message windows (400 visible, 200 pending messages)
- Pending message buffering when user scrolls away from bottom
- Centralized status updates for optimistic messages
- Thread component simplified with forwarded scroll and pending callbacks
- Removes message count tracking from components
This improves performance for chats with many messages and provides a
cleaner separation of concerns between UI and state management.
Use relative paths with .md extension for docs/guide/*.md files and
relative paths in README.md to support both GitHub rendering and
VitePress website (which has base: '/docs/'). Fixes#36
Add configurable host binding for the Mini App HTTP server through:
- New `webappHost` configuration (defaults to 127.0.0.1 for security)
- CLI arguments `--host` and `--port` with flexible parsing (--host=value or --host value)
- Priority order: CLI args > env vars > settings.json > defaults
- Updated Bun.serve() to bind to the configured hostname
Modified:
- server/src/config/settings.ts
- server/src/config/serverSettings.ts
- server/src/configuration.ts
- server/src/web/server.ts
- server/src/index.ts
- cli/src/commands/server.ts
Reorganizes the LoginPrompt layout by moving the Server button from an
absolute-positioned top-right corner into the main content flow as a text
link in a new "Help links" section below the login form. Also adds a
"Needs help?" link pointing to the documentation. This reduces visual
clutter, improves hierarchy by grouping related actions, and provides
better guidance for new users.
- Update subtitle to official slogan "Vibe Coding Anytime, Anywhere"
- Simplify input placeholder to "Access token"
- Remove verbose help text below the input field
- Move server settings from top-right corner to footer below form
- Add "Needs help?" link to docs (https://hapi.run/docs)
- Add underline styling to both help and server links for better affordance
- Add footer with copyright and Vibe Coding message
Extract duplicate MCP bridge initialization code from codexLocalLauncher and
codexRemoteLauncher into a new buildHapiMcpBridge utility. This ensures both
modes use identical server setup logic and provides a single source of truth
for MCP configuration.
Update codexStartConfig to deliver system prompt via developer_instructions
instead of appending to the user message. This ensures consistent behavior
between local and remote modes and properly separates system guidance from
user intent.
Implements MCP server configuration and developer instructions support in
Codex local mode, bringing it to parity with remote mode.
Key additions:
- buildMcpServerConfigArgs() and buildDeveloperInstructionsArg() utilities
to construct -c config arguments for passing MCP servers and instructions
to the Codex CLI at runtime
- TITLE_INSTRUCTION for Codex to call hapi__change_title to update chat
session titles dynamically
- Codex local mode now starts hapi MCP bridge server and passes both MCP
configuration and developer instructions to Claude, enabling full feature
parity with remote mode
Files changed:
- New: codexMcpConfig.ts (utilities), systemPrompt.ts (prompt definition),
codexMcpConfig.test.ts (comprehensive tests)
- Updated: codexLocal.ts (accepts mcpServers, builds config args),
codexLocalLauncher.ts (starts hapi server, passes config),
codexStartConfig.ts (imports TITLE_INSTRUCTION)
Create BaseSessionScanner abstract class to consolidate common session
scanning logic shared between Claude and Codex session scanners. Both
scanners now inherit from this base, reducing duplication and providing
consistent patterns for file watching, event processing, and state
management.
